Nordnet Suspending App Access After Customers Were Logged into Incorrect Accounts

Nordnet, a pan-Nordic investment platform, experienced a service outage on Tuesday lasting four hours due to a serious security issue. During this time, multiple users reported accessing other customers’ accounts, revealing sensitive information such as stock portfolios and fund holdings.

The problem was traced back to a malfunctioning software component within the login system. Nordnet has confirmed that a user who improperly accessed another account was able to execute an equities trade.

Lars-Åke Norling, the CEO of Nordnet, expressed deep concern over the incident. He stated, “The security of our customers and the reliability of our platform are our primary concerns. We are taking today’s situation very seriously and fully recognize the frustration it has caused. Our immediate priority has been to identify and rectify the issue while keeping our users updated. I sincerely apologize and assure our customers that we are implementing measures to prevent a recurrence of such problems.”
