Geeks are incredibly enthusiastic, particularly about their favorite television series. Almost every fan can name at least one show they’d like to see make a return. For me, it would be Firefly. Meanwhile, fans of Veronica Mars are seeing their dreams come closer to reality through a crowdfunding initiative.
Since the cancellation of Veronica Mars, its creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell have been on a mission to produce a film adaptation. In a final push, Thomas met with executives at Warner Bros., and they struck a deal: if he could raise $2 million in 30 days through crowdfunding, the studio would support the project.
The campaign launched yesterday and was fully funded in under 24 hours. Personally, I contributed not only because I enjoyed Veronica Mars but also in hopes of reviving other cherished shows in the future.
